our history
Kanjana Orchids was founded by Dr. Prakob Kanjanasoon in 1979 in Thailand. His passion towards horticulture and mainly orchid varieties. His hobby of growing and collection orchid varieties plus his knowledge towards the plant pathology degree initiated the start of our company and international exporting.
Dr. Prakob Kanjanasoon was stationed as the vice permanent secretary of the agricultural ministry of Thailand during 1971. Dr.Prakob Kanjanasoon had a bachelor degree at Maejo University in the Northern Part of Thailand in Agricultural Production and then received the kings’ scholarship to continue his studies at Tokyo Nodai University (Tokyo University of Agriculture). He finished his master degree under Plant Pathology and continued the king’s scholarship on his PhD at Minisota State University on Plant Pathology. Dr. Prakob Kanjanasoon was well know in the field of agriculture in Thailand. He was one of the key staffs to have the privilege to serve his majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej in his royal agricultural projects.
After, Mr. Worakan Kanjanasoon (Mr. Mike) had finished his MBA at Northrop University he continued what Dr.Prakob initiated but this time at a larger scale. Around 1995, Mr. Worakan Kanjanasoon invested in the second orchid nursery at Lopburi Province just 150 kilometer north of Bangkok City this time the Nursery covered over 120 Rai or 192,000 square meter. The farm can hold up to 5 million dendrobium pot plants/ cut flower varieties and approximately 100,000 vanda blooming size orchids.

In 1979, Her royal highness the Princess Anne of the
United Kingdom and Captain Mark Phillips visited Kanjana Orchids for the first
time. This is the very first time that Thai Orchid nursery
had been visited by foreign royal family.
